Big Rapids man arrested for domestic assault and assaulting a police officer

A Big Rapids parolee is back in jail after police officers arrested him on several felony charges including assaulting an officer.

According to the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety, officers responded to the 800 Block of Water Tower Rd in reference to a possible Breaking and Entering in progress.

The caller stated her ex- boyfriend was in her residence and stealing her belongings.

When they arrived, they found Kavoceya Alexzay Vanassche exiting the rear of the residence. While attempting to take Vanassche into custody, he fought with officers. During the scuffle, one officer was injured.

Vanassche was lodged at the Mecosta County Jail for several charges, including Felonious

Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Felonious Domestic Assault.

Vanassche was arraigned through the 77th District Court and is being held on a $100,000 surety.
