Police searching for Chemical Bank robber in Montcalm Co.

Montcalm County Sheriff Deputies are on the lookout for a man they say robbed the Chemical Bank in Edmore over the weekend. Police say the incident happened late Saturday morning, where the suspect entered the bank and presented a note to one of the tellers demanding money. The man implied he had a weapon, although no weapon was seen. He obtained an undisclosed amount of money, and then he left the bank on foot.

Buffalo Wild Wings in Big Rapids confirmed there was a security breach at their location that led to credit cards to be cloned and used to defraud $100,000 from 250 confirmed Big Rapids area residents.

Remus bank scammed out of thousands

A Remus bank was scammed out of tens of thousands of dollars from a group posing as a client through fax requests. Mecosta County Sheriff officials say the fax, printed on a standard Microsoft Word template, included checking account and routing numbers, along with a employer identification number and two signatures from the owners of the company asking for more than $28,000 to be transferred to another company in Hong Kong.

Failed bank

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on Monday will begin sending checks to insured deposit holders of Lakeside Community Bank in Sterling Heights. The financial institution was closed Friday after state regulators seized the bank, which reportedly fell victim to bad loans. It’s the first bank in Michigan to fail this year, and one of eight across the nation to be closed Friday. State regulators say no depositors will lose money.

Bank could bring billion dollars in lending

Michigan Senate democrats unveiled a proposal Wednesday that would create the Michigan Development Bank. Democratic leader Mike Prusi says the proposed bank will keep residents’ money in Michigan. A rough estimate is that with an initial capitalization of $150 million, the Michigan Development Bank could lend up to $1 billion.
