Two injured in accident in Mecosta County this morning

Mecosta County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a personal injury accident this morning around 9:00am on 5 mile road near 120th Avenue, just outside of the village of Altona. Deputies say the vehicle was traveling Eastbound at high speeds, lost control on a curve and slid off the road into a tree. The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Michael Leonard of Lakeview, was transported by Mecosta County EMS to Kelsey Memorial Hospital. The only passenger of the vehicle, 23-year-old Ross Daniels from Three Rivers was transported to a Grand Rapids hospital by AeroMed.

Two sent to the hospital after accident in Big Rapids

Two people were sent to the hospital after a accident in Big Rapids Thursday. Police say the accident happened on the corner of Michigan Ave and Linden Street. They say a 20-year old woman driving on Linden Street ran a stop sign and hit a car driven by a 26-year old man heading north on Michigan Avenue. The 20-year old female driver of the first car and a 23-year old passenger in the second car were transported to Mecosta County Medical Center by EMS for non-life threatening injuries.

Cadillac man charged in deadly car accident

A 25 year old Cadillac resident was the cause of a deadly car accident in Cadillac on Tuesday. Michael Alan Brown ran his SUV into a car after running a stop sign causing the car to hit a house and killing both of its passengers. Brown was arraigned on two counts reckless driving causing death and two counts driving while intoxicated causing death related to Tuesday’s crash that killed 23-year old Joshua Lester and 24-year old Gary Helsel. All are 15-year felonies. A preliminary exam will be scheduled within 14 days. His bond was set at $500,000.

Two teens killed Coopersville car accident

A brother and sister were killed Wednesday when their vehicle slammed into the back of a school bus in west Michigan. Ottawa county sheriff's deputies say 16-year-old Bruce Privacky and 13-year-old Antonia Privacky were pinned in their vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the two were driving home from school when they slammed int o the back of a Coopersville bus that had been stopped with its red flashing lights turned on. The S-U-V was lodged underneath the bus. Authorities say weather may have played a factor. Neither the bus driver nor any of the students were injured.

Four injured in Horse drawn-buggy, car accident in Morton Township

Four people were taken to the hospital after a car collided with a horse-drawn buggy in Morton Township. Mecosta County Sheriff Deputies say a horse and buggy driven by a Remus woman was traveling West bound on 9 mile road near 60th Ave. when a vehicle driven by Tresa Barhitte from Mecosta crested a hill on 9 mile and met the horse and buggy in their lane of travel. Deputies say Barhitte applied her brakes to avoid the horse and buggy and was struck by a vehicle driven by Francine Cole from Howard City.
