Clare Co. couple in jail on kidnapping charges

A Clare County couple were charged with four counts each Wednesday with the kidnapping of their granddaughter last week. Clare County Sheriff Deputies say 63-year-old William Hullihen and 46-year-old Regina Hullihen picked up their 7-year-old granddaughter last Friday after school in Harrison without permission which started an amber alert. Deputies say after several hours of searching, authorities made contact with the Hullihen's and they brought the girl to the Sheriff's Department.

Clare Co. woman accused of embezzling $50,000 from employer

A Clare County woman is behind bars and faces up to 15 years in prison for allegedly embezzling over $50,000 from her place of employment over a two year period. Crystle Swartz is charged with embezzlment from the law office of Dwight Carpenter and using a computer to commit the crime. She is being held at the Clare County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Isbella Co. sheriff Deputies arrest 3 men on breaking and entering charges

Isabella Co. Sheriff Deputies arrested three suspects they believe are responsible for numerous break-ins around Isabella and Clare Counties over the pastThree months. Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski says both 33-year old Chad Steven Rodriguez of Weidman and 19-Year old Robert Lyle Keller Jr. of Mount Pleasant have been charged with two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of larceny. 48-year old Ronald Raymond Pingilley of Mount Pleasant has been charged with one count of breaking and entering and one count of larceny.

Gas Station murder suspect to be arraigned today in Osceola Co.

Arraignment is expected to be held today for a Harrison man who shot and killed two people Wednesday in Osceola County. 26 year old Blake Hullihen shot and killed Sears residents 23 year old Gabriel Woodworth and 27 year old Donald Feneis while at a Marion Citgo Gas Station. The murder suspect later turned himself into the Clare County Sheriffs Department. Update: Victims and suspect named in fatal gas station parking lot shooting in Marion

Michigan State Police have released the names of the victims and suspect in a double homicide at a gas station in Marion last night. Troopers say 27 year old Donald Feneis and 23 year old Gabriel Woodworth were both killed in the shooting which happened on Wednesday at the Citgo Gas Station at M-66 and M-115 . They say that the 26-year old suspect Blake Hullihen turned himself into the Clare County Sheriffs Department last night. Authorities say that Woodworth and Hullihen had been in an on-going child custody dispute. We'll have more on this developing story when it becomes available.

Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce name former Clare Chamber Director to same position

After almost a four month search, the Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce has named Jennifer Heinzman Executive Director. Heinzman spent the past five years as Director for the Clare Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Director Search Committee Member Eric O'Neil says he was impressed by Heinzman during the interview process. He says she is a very energetic, dynamic person and came highly recommended by her former board members at the Care Chamber. Nick Scheible served as Interim Director since the retirement of former director Anja Wing in August.

Ottawa Co. healthiest in state; Clare Co. not so much

Clare County has the least healthy residents and Ottawa County has the healthiest in the state, according to a new study from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. It's part of the annual county health rankings, released by the foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. The report says residents in Clare County are more than two times more likely to die a premature death than those in Ottawa County.

Police catch thief after he leaves cell phone at home

Police in Clare County tracked down a suspect in a home break-in after he left his cell phone behind. The Sheriff's office says on Monday the owners of a house in Hamilton Township came home to find thieves took a flat screen television, gold clubs, jewelry and sporting equipment. But the next day the homeowners found a cell phone that someone left behind. Investigators tracked it to a suspect in Sanford who was arrested. The sheriff's office says there may also be a second suspect. (MRN)

Two men arraigned for Monday morning breaking and entering

The two suspects who were arrested early Monday morning by Mecosta County Deputies after a home invasion were arraigned in Mecosta County 77th District Court. Both 31 year-old Lucas Williams of Remus and 32 year-old Robert Guynn of Weidman, were charged with breaking and entering, larceny from a residence, and home invasion 2nd degree charges. Williams was out on a conditional bond release from Clare County for a prior alcohol conviction, and has only traffic misdemeanors involving license plate violations on his criminal record along with the alcohol offense.

Body found inside after early morning Clare County fire

One person is dead after an early morning fire today in Clare County. Harrison Community Firefighters and the Clare County Sheriff’s Department were called in to battle a structure fire on Hampton Road in Harrington around 2:30 AM this morning. Fire fighters were able to quickly put out the blaze, but did find a body inside after.
