Kent County Animal Shelter receives special holiday donation

In light of the holidays a group of 20 second graders from Meadowlawn Elementary School in Kentwood donated 2 bags full of treats and toys to the Kent County Animal Shelter. The kids also wrote letters to potential adopters in hopes of finding theses animals a home. Pets can be visited Monday through Friday from 10am until 6pm and Saturday from 8am to noon. Meth lab next to elementary school

Ionia County Sheriff's deputies discovered a methamphetamine lab next to an elementary school when they went to a house in the village of Pewamo to arrest a man on a parole violation. The house was located approximately 20 feet from a neighbor's home and 35 feet from Pewamo elementary school playground. The 30-year-old Pewamo man was arrested on the outstanding parole absconder warrant. A 47-year-old woman from Pewamo was also at the house and arrested on methamphetamine related charges. Both are lodged at the Ionia County Jail.
