Icy roads blamed

A Montcalm County woman is dead following a car accident Sunday morning. Police say the accident happened around 7:30 a-m on Lincoln Lake Road just south of M-57 in Kent County. 56-year-old Debbie Rauch of Gown lost control of her vehicle while attempting to pass another car. Rauch was pronounced dead at the scene and icy road conditions are being blamed.

Two teenagers killed; one seriously injured after car accident in Montcalm Co.

Two teens were killed and one seriously injured after a car accident in Montcalm County Monday. State Police say it happened around 1am when a vehicle traveling on Musson Road in Belvidere Township left the road and struck a tree, the car then caught fire. The driver, a 19-year-old from Six Lakes, was able to escape the vehicle and flown to the hospital with serious injuries. Two passengers, a 19-year-old from Six Lakes and a 17-year-old from Mt. Pleasant died at the scene. Michigan State Police are still investigating the accident.

Marion man killed two others injured after car accident in Clare Co.

An Osceola County man was killed and two others injured including a child after a car accident in Clare County. Police say it happened when a pick up truck driven by Lawrence Jackson of Marion was traveling north on Cook Road near Haskell Lake Road ran off the road and struck a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passengers in the vehicle, a woman from McBain and an 8-year old boy were taken to the hospital for their injuries. The accident remains under investigation.

53-year old Woman dies after car accident in Mecosta Co.

A 53-year old woman died last night after an car accident in Mecosta County. Deputies say it happened on Newcosta just north of 20 mile rd. They say the driver, Norma Welling was traveling northbound on Newcosta when she lost control on a gravel roadway, striking a mailbox and tree before overturning and being ejected from the vehicle. Welling was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. She died at the scene. Her passenger was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. Police believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Police investigate deadly accident in Osceola Co.

Police up in Osceola County continue to investigate a fatal car accident that happened Friday. They say it happened on US-10 near 185th Ave. in Richmond Twp where a Toyota driven by 79-year old Robert Waldron from Kentucky was traveling westbound when he went off the north side of US-10, The car then re-entered the US-10 striking an east bound Ford pick-up Waldron died at the scene, his passenger was airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital. The driver of the pickup truck was treated at the scene.

Two killed in car accident in Remus

A second fatal car accident occurred over the weekend. Mecosta County Sheriff Deputies say it happened early Sunday morning, near the intersection of 30th Avenue and 17 Mile Road in Remus. The vehicle involved in the accident was passing another vehicle at the time of the accident. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and left the roadway . The vehicle then overturned several times and two victims who were not wearing their seatbelts were ejected from the vehicle. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two die in two car accident in Mecosta Twp.

Two people were killed in a two car accident over the weekend in Mecosta County. Michigan State Police say it happened in Mecosta Township at the intersection of 8 Mile Rd and Northland Dr.where a 1997 GMC Jimmy traveling east on 8 Mile Road failed to stop and/or yield at the signed intersection and was struck by a 2005 Ford Ranger Pickup traveling north on Northland Drive. The GMC was occupied by three individuals. The driver was identified as an 18 year old man from Wyoming, MI, who was transported by Mecosta County EMS to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in

Police investigate deadly accident in Newaygo County

A 57-year old Walkerville woman is dead and her passenger suffered serious injuries yesterday after a car accident in Newaygo County. State Police say is happened on Maple Island Road, just north of 96th Street in Sheridan Township. They say 49-year old Todd Raby of Hesperia, crossed the center line and crashed head-on into an SUV. The driver of the SUV, Frances Brink, died shortly after being airlifted to the hospital. Her husband, Arthur Brink, and Todd Raby were listed in serious condition. Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the accident.

Barryton couple killed in car accident

A Mecosta County couple was killed in a car accident last night. Sheriff deputies say they found 72-year old Gerald Jordan, and his wife, 78-year old Alice Jordan of Barryton both deceased. It happened on 19 Mile Rd near 60th Ave.  Upon arrival on scene, deputies say the vehicle was traveling eastbound at which time it drove off the roadway to the right and went down an extremely steep embankment filled with rocks and trees.

driver dies in rollover accident in Newaygo Co.

Sad News out of Newaygo County as a driver was killed after a rollover accident last night in Grant Township. State Police say the accident happened in the area of M-37 south of 104th Street. They say Preliminary investigations revealed the driver lost control on a curve, drove into a ditch then rollover over several times ejecting the driver from the vehicle. Police say the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Speed is believed to be a factor in the accident.
