Suspect arrested for Manistee County tobacco store armed robbery

James Parrinello has been arrested for the armed robbery of a Manistee County Admiral Tobacco store. He was arrested after Michigan State Police compiled enough evidence to get a search warrant. Michigan State Troopers pulled Parrinello over and arrested him over the weekend. He was in possession of a handgun that fit the description of the one used in the robbery. Parrinello is currently in jail and has more charges pending for robberies of an A&W along with a Little Caesars as well.

State Troopers searching for armed robbery suspect in Manistee County

Michigan State Police Troopers are searching for a suspect who held up the Admiral Discount Tobacco store in Manistee with a semi automatic handgun Wednesday afternoon. Troopers say the suspect brandished a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money. A clerk and two customers were in the store at the time of the robbery and were ordered to the floor but were unharmed. The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect is described as a white male with a tan complexion, between 5'8-5'10 tall, 150lbs with possibly short blond hair and blue eyes.

"Passed out" Cedar Springs man surprises Michigan State Troopers in Cadillac

Troopers arriving for duty around 5:30am Saturday at the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post were given a special delivery. Troopers say when they arrived for work they found that someone had spun some “donuts” in the parking lot and then attempted to drive across the front law of the Post but could not manage in the snow and the incline to get back on the highway and got stuck. When troopers arrived at the 2005 Saturn Vue they discovered the vehicle still running, in drive and the driver still inside passed out.

Leroy man in more hot water with authorities after making bomb threat

A Leroy man who threatened to blow up the Osceola County Court House is now in more trouble with authorities. Michigan State Police say Danny Vanas Jr. threatened to detonate a bomb in the 77th District Court in Osceola County, targeting at least one court official. Troopers say they were able to conduct a search warrant at Vanas home in Sherman Township and discovered an active meth lab inside. Law enforcement is continuing investigations into the bomb threat and discovered meth lab. Police say it's likely more arrests will be made.

Fatal accident in Ionia County still under investigation

A car accident in Ionia County today has left one dead. Around 7:15 this morning on M-66 and Grand River Ave. a mercury mystic and a semi collided. A 43 year old Portland woman who was driving a Mercury Mystic collided with a 52 year old male from Wyoming Michigan who was driving a semi tractor-trailer. The Mercury was stopped at the stop sign at westbound Grand River Ave. and when the driver began to cross the northbound lanes of M-66 she was struck by the northbound semi tractor-trailer.

Traffic deaths increase over the Christmas holiday weekend compared to a year ago

Michigan State Police have confirmed that preliminary reports indicate eight people lost their lives in eight separate traffic crashes during the 2011 lifesaver holiday weekend. In comparison, five people died in five traffic crashes during the 2010 lifesaver holiday weekend. Alcohol was not a known factor in any of the fatal crashes, but three of the eight victims were known to have not used restraints. (MRN)

MSP says traffic deaths declined over 2011 Thanksgiving holiday compared to last year

Fatal traffic crashes around the thanksgiving holiday in the state were down slightly this year. Michigan State Police say preliminary reports indicate six people lost their lives in six separate traffic crashes during the thanksgiving holiday weekend. in comparison, 10 people died in traffic crashes during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend a year ago. two of the victims were pedestrians. of the other four victims, it could be determined that two were wearing seat belts and one was unrestrained. Off-duty State Trooper arrested, arraigned in death of teenager

A Michigan State Police Trooper assigned to the Lakeview Post, has been arrested and arraigned in connection to the death of 16 year old Zachary Barber. 36-year old Daniel Parker is charged with manslaughter with a motor vehicle, moving violation causing death and moving violation causing serious impairment of bodily function. The trooper was off-duty on August 30th, driving in Ionia Township, when police say his vehicle hit Barber and 14 year old Donald Proctor. They were pushing a moped along the edge of the road.

Driver sent to hospital after leading police on high speed chase through 4 counties

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a one vehicle accident in Clare County after the driver led police on a high speed chase through several counties. Michigan State Police Troopers from the Reed City Post assisted Clare County Sheriff Deputies with the high speed pursuit. Troopers say they attempted to make a traffic stop and the driver accelerated away at a high rate of speed taking troopers and deputies thru Wexford, Missaukee, Osceola and Clare Counties where the driver ultimately lost control of his vehicle and crashed into trees on a private property.

Michigan State Police to close 14 branches permanently starting this month

The Department Of State Police have announced that it's new "regionalized" post structure, which involves the closing of many state police posts, takes effect this month. Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue, Director of the Michigan State Police (MSP), says that statewide, the MSP is reducing the number of posts from 62 to 29.
