Lucille M. Rugg, 88, of Reed City, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
She was born March 15, 1928 in East Grand Rapids and attended Grand Rapids area schools, graduating from South High School in 1946. She then attended Western Michigan, receiving her teaching degree. Lucille married Rodney Rugg on August 19, 1950. He survives. Also surviving are her daughter Marta (Steve) Hammond of Billings, Missouri; 1 son, Raymond (Kathleen) Rugg of Eagar, Arizona; and 2 grandchildren, Royal (Amanda) Rugg and Maya Rugg. She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Betty (Ed) Spomer. Rod and Lucille were residents of Reed City since 1964.
She had worked at the Ferris State University bookstore for 30 years. She was an active member of the Reed City United Methodist Church and the Womens' groups of the church. She had also been a member of a 4H extension group.
Funeral services for Lucille will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20 at the Reed City United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy Cadarette officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 19 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McDowell Funeral Home, and from 10:00 a.m. until services Saturday at the church. The family requests memorials be made to the United Methodist Church.
