Alan Harold Beamer, 67 ,of Big Rapids,  passed away peacefully after a courageous five year battle with Alzheimer's with his family and loved ones at his side on Friday, April 21, 2017 at home. He was 67 years old.
 He was born in Wyoming, Michigan to Harold "Doc" and Amelia Wilma Beamer and was a 1967 graduate of Rogers High School.
 He supported his family by working for the Big Rapids Public School System for 27 years as a teacher and 3 years as an administrator. In addition, he coached varsity football and girls varsity softball. Alan had a passion for education and for the children he taught. As Alan fought his battle with Alzheimer's he reminisced fondly about his days in the classroom.
 Alan was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors and looked forward to yearly dear camp and his Canadian fishing trips. He enjoyed spending time with family and especially spending time camping and bonfires with his wife Mary Beth. Alan quarterbacked the 1968 undefeated Division II Ferris State College National Championship team.
He is survived by his wife Mary Beth St. Onge-Beamer: children Shelby (Jeff) Thomas and Stacey (Joe) Cargo: grandchildren Dakota Thomas, Connor Thomas and Mason Cargo: sister Sharon Malone.
A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined.
