Reed City man arrested for conducting a criminal enterprise

A Reed City man was arraigned Monday in Mecosta County District Court on charges of retail fraud and conducting a criminal enterprise. According to Big Rapids DPS Detective Brian Miller, investigations into 41-year old Matthew Pratt's scam began on January 31st. Police found that Pratt's wife, (who has not been charged) would return items without receipts to get a credit store voucher. Police found reciept returns to stores and business from Muskegon to Traverse City. Pratt's Wife indicated he was responsible for the scam.

Grand Rapids man charged with retail fraud at after shoplifting at Walmart

A Grand Rapids man who was arrested Friday at the Walmart in Big Rapids was arraigned in Mecosta County Court Monday. 42 year old Randy Scott Allen has been charged with retail fraud in the 1st degree, possession of a control substance cocaine less than 25 grams, possession of marijuana, and driving on a suspended license. Scott tried to make off with three 32 inch T.V.'s, an HP computer, and other hair and body products. He is currently being held at the Mecosta County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled for a pretrial hearing Tuesday morning at 10 AM.

Grand Rapids man arrested in Big Rapids Walmart

Mecosta County Sheriff's deputies responded to call Friday evening at the Walmart in Big Rapids Township. A 42 year old male from Grand Rapids was apprehended for trying to steal three 32 inch T.V.’s, an HP computer, and other hair and body products. It was also discovered that the man was driving on a suspended license and had been in possession of cocaine and marijuana. He is currently being held at the Mecosta County Sheriff's office and a second suspect is still being sought while the investigation continues.
