Deonna Jane Todd-Green passed away peacefully at her home on April 9, 2026, after a long illness. She was 77 years old. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Grant Green; her loving children, Brian (Colleen) Green, William (Sarah) Green, Dustin Green, and Kayla (Christopher) Penix; and her sisters, Marsha Todd-Stewart-Sanders and Diana Todd-Green.
Deonna was a proud grandmother to Kenneth "Alex" Snyder, Marshall Green, Torry Green (Courtnee Snowden), Morgan Green, and Austin Penix. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Oliver Shanteau, Callan, and Myles Green. Her passing leaves a void in her family’s hearts that can never be filled. She was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Deborah Lynn and Marjorie Ann, who passed away in 1967, as well as her parents, Marshall and Ione Todd.
Deonna was born in Blanchard, Michigan, in 1948 to Marshall and Ione Sawyer Todd. She was the younger of twin daughters, born 45 minutes after her sister, Diana Joan Todd-Green, at the home of their grandparents, Stanley and Wealthy Sawyer, attended by the town physician—a reflection of a time when care was brought directly to families.
She attended Remus Consolidated Public Schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade and graduated in 1966. Deonna worked at Evart Products and later retired in 2008 from Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. A woman of creativity and passion, Deonna began quilting in 1981 and transformed family history into beautiful works of art. Her quilts have been displayed throughout the United States, including a permanent display at the Michigan State University Museum. Both Deonna and her mother, Ione, had their quilts exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C., and honored with invitations to the White House during the presidency of George W. Bush. Her artwork continues to receive recognition and awards. She was also instrumental in writing history for The Old Settlers: A Nation Within Itself which was published in 1988, making sure the Morgan West Wheatland Cemetery was immortalized on the National Register of History of Historic Places, and assisting in the registration of our Old Settlers Reunion Website appearing in the U.S. LIBRARY OF CONGRESS--archives.
Deonna was a devoted member of the Disciples of Christ Church, now known as Wheatland Church of Christ, where she was baptized at the age of 13.
Arrangements are in the care of Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Barryton. Deonna will be laid to rest at Morgan West Wheatland Cemetery, located at 10264 55th Ave, Remus, MI, on Thursday, Apirl 16, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
