The Michigan Public Service Commission is authorizing DTE Electric Company to increase its electric rates by nearly $185 million annually, effective Feb. 7.
However, because the amount the MPSC approved is less than what the utility self-implemented in August last year, customers will see a refund, plus interest, in the future.
DTE sought a rate increase of $344 million and it self-implemented a rate increase of $245 million last year.
