A four year old boy is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car Monday night near Hesperia in Newaygo County.

It happened on M-20 near Dickinson Avenue.

The Newaygo County Sheriff's Department says the boy entered the road where he was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by a 62-year-old Fremont man.

The child was airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.  

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
