Following allegations back in June, a former village of Hersey treasurer is now behind bars awaiting arraignment on embezzlement charges.

Charges of embezzlement by a public official and embezzlement of taxes/public monies follow an investigation that began in June by the Michigan State Police after allegations arose of misappropriated funds were discovered during a regularly scheduled audit. 

After reviewing findings from the Osceola County Prosecutor authorized charges, the suspect was arrested today.

The suspect's name is being withheld pending arraignment.
