Five people were sent to the hospital in Mecosta County following a two car accident Thursday.

It happened on Northland Dr. near Arthur Rd. deputies say that's where a eastbound pickup truck driven by a Stanwood woman failed to stop at a stop sign due to a break failure.  The pickup pulled into the path of a northbound car being operated by a Big Rapids woman.

The car had a total of four people and the pickup only had 1 occupant. The occupants in both vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were all taken to Spectrum Big Rapids ER. 

All of the patients were treated and released for their injuries.
