A busy weekend ahead with March Madness, St. Patrick's Day this Saturday as well as spring break for a lot of students.

Local police say they will also be busy with extra patrols on the lookout for drunk drivers as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement period through April 2nd.

The extra patrols being funded through federal grants to area police and sheriffs departments.

Officials say nearly 2,200 in Michigan were arrested for drunk driving during the NCAA tournament in 2015.
