An 85-year old Barryton man was struck and killed by another vehicle over the weekend in Mecosta County.

It happened on 30th Ave just north of Grant Rd in Wheatland Twp.

Sheriff Deputies say an investigation revealed that a 79-year old Vestaburg woman struck a deer at which time she stopped and her passenger, 85-year old Norman Erickson got out to remove the deer from the road.

While Erickson was attempting to remove the deer from the road a southbound vehicle driven by a 22-year old woman from Marion struck and killed Erickson.

The accident is still under investigation.
