Just over 1,700 people are without power following heavy thunderstorms last night into this morning throughout Mecosta County.

Consumer Energy officials say high winds knocked down trees causing some of the outages.

UPDATE:

Most of the affected areas have been restored, the utility hopes an area in Big Rapids Township restored by 9:15am.
