Kent County woman falls asleep behind wheel; crashes into trees in Mecosta County

A Comstock Park woman is recovering after falling asleep behind the wheel and crashing her car into some trees in Mecosta County this morning.

Deputies say it happened a little after 5am.

They say the 51-year old driver was traveling northbound on US-131 near 21 Mile Rd in Green Township, when she fell asleep, left the road and crashed into a ravine and into several trees.

The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries, she was taken to Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital for treatment.
