The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accident from Monday morning where a six-year old Evart boy was struck and killed by a pickup truck hauling logs.
It happened in Sylvan Township, on M66 near 7 Mile Road. The sheriff’s office says the driver of a southbound pickup and trailer hauling logs observed two young children standing at the shoulder of the road, when suddenly one young child darted out.
The driver attempted to avoid the child but was unable.
Witnesses at the scene also reported the child darted into the path of the truck. Alcohol and or speed was not a factor in this incident, according to police.
We will have more on this story as it develops.
