UPDATE: The 34-year old female driver from Sanford died overnight from injuries sustained in the accident.

A 3-year old child and two adults were killed in a three vehicle accident in Isabella County Sunday afternoon.

It happened on East Pickard (M-20) near Vroman Road in Chippewa Township.

Sheriff Micheal Main says a Jeep traveling east on M20 began to swerve and hit a pickup truck head on.

When the pickup spun sideways, the car behind it hit it. It's believed the driver of the Jeep, a 48-year old Hemlock man, had a medical episode and died instantly. His passenger went to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver of the pickup, a 34-year old Sanford woman, was flown to a hospital in critical condition. The sheriff says she and her passenger were not wearing their seat belts. The passenger was thrown from the truck and died on his way to the hospital. There was also a 3-year old in the back of the truck who was not buckled in properly. He was thrown from the pickup and later died.

Both people in the car received non-life threatening injuries.
