Blood drives to take place due to blood shortages regionally

Local blood agencies and hospitals need blood as supplies across the region are becoming dangerously low.

 

Blood supply is at critical levels across Michigan and 84% below normal supply levels regionally.


Community members are encouraged to give blood at one of the following:


Tuesday, July 16 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church,108 Church St.,
Tustin.


Thursday, July 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 9407
90 th Ave., Mecosta.


Monday, July 22 from noon to 5 p.m. at Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital
Professional Office Building, 705 Oak St., Suite 5, Door A, Big Rapids.


Tuesday, July 23 from 8 a.m. to noon at Munson Healthcare Cadillac, 400 Hobart Street,
Cadillac.


Monday, July 29 from 10 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. at Spectrum Health Canadian Lakes Family
Medicine, 8354 100 th Avenue, 1 st Floor, Suite 2, Canadian Lakes.


Tuesday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital Blood
Bus, 300 N. Patterson Rd., Reed City.


Wednesday, July 31 from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Hauenstein Reynolds Township
Library, 117 W. Williams St., Howard City.


Appointments are preferred and encouraged, but walk-ins are also accepted. To schedule an appointment call Michigan Blood at 866.MIBLOOD (642.5663) or schedule online at Versiti.org/Michigan. 

 

Spectrum Health continues its partnership with Michigan Blood as their primary source of blood products in treating and saving patients’ lives. The entire donation process takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes and includes registration, a brief health screening, blood collection and time for post-donation refreshments. Each blood donation can save up to
three lives.

 

In addition, there are two opportunities in July to give blood to the American Red Cross:
Wednesday, July 24 from noon to 5:45 p.m. at St. Michael Parish Center, 8944 50 th St.,
Remus.


Friday, July 26 from noon to 5:45 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 1005 Perry St., Big Rapids.
