The city of Big Rapids has approved a resolution last night to allow a deer cull because of overpopulation.

The city will be working with the DNR to get deer tags for 15-20 deer and then members from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services will use suppressed firearms and work at night using thermal energy cameras.

The cost of the deer cull will be $5,600.

All of the deer meat will be donated to Sportsmen Against Hunger.
