The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Owosso barber Karl Manke.
In a 7-0 decision, the court ruled that Manke can still operate, and he is not in violation of Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order or the public health code.
Although able to operate, Manke's license is still suspended.
According to Karl Manke's lawyer, an appeal will be filed Monday asking for a stay.
On Friday, Gov. Whitmer announced the reopening of salons, movie theaters and gyms within Regions 6 and 8 on June 10th as part of her MI Safe Start plan.
Regions 6 and 8 include the Upper Peninsula and the Traverse City region.
Starting June 15, personal services including hair, massages and nails will reopen statewide.
Though the remaining regions, 1 through 5 and 7, will remain in Phase 4 under Friday’s executive orders, the governor has said she expects the entire state will advance to Phase 5 in the coming weeks.
