The Mecosta County Emergency Manager is advising residents of the increased potential for severe weather today. 

According to the National Weather Service out of Grand Rapids, increased potential exists today for severe or significant storms. The main threat is wind gusts from storms to 70 mph. There is a smaller but possible risk of tornados and hail also. 

Residents should monitor weather reports and ensure you have a method to receive weather warnings should it become necessary. 

Because this will be affecting a large portion of the state, any power outages could have a lengthy restoration time period.

Prepare for the possibility of being without power for at least several days.
