Snowy weather conditions Tuesday is the reason for two car accidents on US-131 in Mecosta County.
The first happened on the southbound side near exit 144, that's where a 24-year old Mt Pleasant man lost control of his car and spun out on the highway. The vehicle behind that vehicle was driven by a 27-year old Illinois man and was slowing to avoid the front vehicle as it was rear ended by a box truck driven by a 27-year old man from Grand Rapids.
A 28-year old female passenger from Illinois was taken to Spectrum Big Rapids Hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
The second accident occurred on US-131 South of Perry St. in Big Rapids Twp. The driver, a 20-year old Cadillac woman was heading northbound on US-131 when she lost control of her vehicle and went off the road then overturned in the ditch. The driver was taken to SHBR for non-life threatening injuries.
