A Newaygo man is in custody on multiple charges following an incident with police on Wednesday morning.

Mecosta Co. deputies say Al Thompson got his truck stuck on 230th Avenue in Aetna Township around 8:30am Wednesday morning.

When deputies arrived to the scene, they say Thompson got in his truck, tried to get away and threatened to shoot himself.

Thompson was taken into custody for assaulting an officer and operating under the influence of meth among other charges.

The Newaygo man remains in custody in the Mecosta County Jail on $100,000 surety bond.
