19-year old snowmobile rider strikes tree in Hinton Twp

A 19-year old man is in serious but non-life threatening condition following a snowmobile accident early this morning.

Deputies from the Mecosta Co. Sheriff's Office say they got a call just after 2am this morning for a snowmobile that struck a tree in Hinton Twp.

The 19 year old male driver was transported to the Big Rapids Spectrum Health Hospital for serious but non life threatening injuries. He was later transported to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for his injuries.

Alcohol and a high rate of speed were believed to have played a factor.
