The Mecosta County Sheriffs Office is issuing a warning of several new scams.
The department says people have been contacted by scammers who are pretending to be from the Secretary of State. The perpetrators claim victims need to buy cards from local stores and give them the card information so victims wont be criminally charged.
Another scam involves calls claiming victims have rented a car in another state, and blood has been found in the vehicle. Scammers tell victims they need to pay for the damages done to the car.
The Sheriffs Office says do not give any personal information over the phone.
