2023 sees new laws going into effect in Michigan. One of which is the "Clean Slate" legislation which will streamline the state's criminal expungement process.

It will allow certain criminal convictions, such as a first time drunk driving offense to be erased from someone's past. This new law DOES NOT cover violent crimes or multiple felony convictions of the same crime.

Supporters of the law say it will allow many people to start fresh and get jobs after already serving their sentences.
