Two Big Rapids Middle School students were honored by the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety this week.

On Tuesday, Student Resource Officer Andre Torres presented Aaron Brown and Daniel Langell with awards of excellence.

According to the Big Rapids DPS Facebook page, during an unplanned lockdown at the middle school, Brown and Langell were in the gymnasium with a classmate who could not go down the stairs. The two boys acted quickly, picked up their classmate, and took him to a safe area until the lockdown was complete.

Big Rapids DPS says their quick actions and selfless behaviors are a true testament to their character.
