A ruling by the Michigan Court of Appeals stops the state's minimum wage from increasing to $13.03 in February and keeps current wage and benefit requirements intact.

The Thursday ruling reverses a lower court decision in July of last year that would have increased minimum wage in the state by nearly $3. Had the Court of Appeals not acted, minimum wage in the state would have increased from $10.10 to $13.03, and tipped minimum wage would have also increased significantly, eventually matching minimum wage in 2024.

The decision will be appealed to the Michigan Supreme Court.
