Just before 8:00 AM Tuesday, a Jeep was traveling eastbound on 68^th St near Clay Ave and caught fire. Witnesses report hearing an explosion and Kent County Sheriff's Office deputies and the Cutlerville Fire Department arrived to find the vehicle fully involved with flames. Responders located a deceased person inside of the vehicle. The driver was identified as a 42-year-old Kentwood man.  

The Kent County Sheriff's Office, Cutlerville Fire, Michigan State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are looking into what led up to this incident. The cause and origin of the fire is yet to be determined by fire investigators.
