Following an outstanding high school football career, standout tailback Garret Foster has announced that his playing days in Big Rapids aren’t over yet. 

Foster announced his commitment to Ferris State on Friday, joining the Bulldogs this coming fall following their 2024 National Championship. 

“It feels amazing,” Foster said. “(Big Rapids) has always felt like home to me and it’s been a dream to play football at Ferris State.”

Foster reportedly saw five different offers during the recruitment process, including fellow DII program Michigan Tech, DIII powers Hope and Alma, and Lawrence Tech. For Foster, the dream school was always number one on the list.

“They have the best coaches, the best culture, and they’re winning football games,” Foster said. “That’s exactly what I wanted. Once I was presented the opportunity, I couldn’t say no.”

Foster received All-Region and All-Conference honors this year, racking almost 1400 all-purpose yards and 22 touchdowns. Defensively, he recorded 68 tackles and forced six turnovers. While he finished his high school career with many individual awards, it was the district championship in 2023 and the two conference titles that meant more.

“I would say I’m happy with my high school career,” Foster said. “Individual accolades don’t really matter to me. I wanted to develop the program and continue to win football games, that’s all that mattered.”

According to Foster, Ferris State has shown interest in him playing offensively as slot back. The Bulldogs enter the 2025 season after capturing a conference, regional, and national title this past season. 

National Signing Day is next week.
