Cardinals use 29-point quarter to collect victory over Lakeview Tuesday

While Lakeview started off strong, it would not be enough to deny Big Rapids their 13th win on the campaign Tuesday night.

Big Rapids began the game with points off turnovers but were answered by Lakeview's strong shooting to keep the game within four points after the first quarter, 18-14. The Cardinals then took advantage of their size, scoring multiple times inside and setting up outside shots to stretch the lead 38-27 at the half.

Big Rapids stormed out to a massive run in the second half, racking up their highest quarter total of the season behind multiple 3-pointers from both Haist brothers. The twenty-nine points would give the Cardinals a 67-38 lead heading to the final eight minutes. Many reserves for both teams saw time in the fourth, showing defensive playmaking with some blocks and steals both ways. Big Rapids would go on to win 75-45.

Leading the Cardinals was Gabe Njenga with an estimated 19 points, six rebounds, and five steals. Cole Haist followed unofficially with 16 points, four rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Drue Haist, JaReese Moten, and Liam McLaughlin each added eight points each.

Lakeview was paced by Braden Salladay with around 13 points, followed by Damen Reed with eight and Jack Peasley with seven.

Big Rapids improves to 13-5 on the season and will head to Newaygo Thursday to face the Lions. The Cardinals defeated the conference foe 70-54 at home back on Jan. 10. Lakeview falls to 4-15 and will play Morley Stanwood at home on Friday night.
