From now until the end of the month, local career center students within the cosmetology program are hosting a hair drive through the end of Februrary.

According to Jaiden Aldrich, a student within the program, the inspiration for the drive is to help kids dealing with hair loss.

Hair can be collected at over 20 area salons around the Big Rapids area, which include A Touch of Class, E&M Hair, Earth Wind & Fire Hair Styling, Simplicity Hair Studio, Salon Next Door, Flair For Hair, Smart Style, Sport Clips, The Studio, Style Station, Super Cuts, Brown's Barber Shop, Great Clips, Jemz, Blown Away Salon, Crown and Glory, Details, Just Kutz, No Loose Ends, and South Main St. Salon.

The three organizations receiving the donations are Locks of Love, Children with Hairloss, and Maggie’s Wigs for Kids. 

For hair to be donated, it must be at least seven inches in length and cannot be bleached or lightened. Chemically treated hair will be accepted.
