The future of the Remus Downtown Development Authority may be in jeopardy.
The Wheatland Township Board is considering the dissolution of the authority, according to a recent DDA Facebook post.
“We are asking for your support in sharing your perspective with the township board, especially if you believe the DDA remains relevant, valuable, and necessary for the ongoing prosperity of our community,” the DDA board said. “The programs, improvements, and events made possible by the DDA depend on continued public investment — an investment that is reinjected directly back into our downtown, creating a cycle of growth and opportunity that extends well beyond the DDA’s original mission.”
The township’s reported reason for the proposed dissolution is that the group has completed the objectives for which it was originally established.
A special meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 13, to discuss the matter. It will be held at the Wheatland Township Hall at 7 p.m. An agenda for the meeting has not yet been published as of April 2.
