WEATHER ALERT: Multiple rounds of storms possible over next 36 hours

The National Weather Service has highlighted portions of West Michigan for possible severe weather from Sunday night through Monday night.

Multiple rounds of storms are expected to move southeast from the Upper Peninsula into the northern Lower Peninsula. According to NWS Grand Rapids, the first round is expected between 10 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday, while the second is forecast to develop from 2 p.m. Monday until around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of West Michigan under a Level 2 of 5 slight risk for severe weather.

“Several chances for strong to severe storms exist over the next 48 hours,” NWS Grand Rapids said. “Confidence in timing and coverage of storms is low as each round will affect the later rounds. The greatest risk is for large hail and damaging winds.”
