An early Sunday crash in Morton Township is under investigation as a possible alcohol-related incident after two people were taken to a hospital.
Deputies were dispatched at 12:48 a.m. to the intersection of Hayes Street and 11 Mile Road in Mecosta. According to the investigation, the driver, a 25-year-old man from Rodney, was traveling west on 11 Mile Road and left the roadway.
“The driver failed to navigate the curve and ran off the roadway to the left,” deputies said. “The truck ran through the ditch, struck a power pole and overturned.”
The driver was taken to a hospital in Big Rapids with non-life-threatening injuries. A 36-year-old woman from Barryton, who was found away from the crash scene, later was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Mecosta County sheriff’s deputies were assisted by Meceola Central Dispatch, Morton Township Fire and Rescue, Mecosta EMS, Hill Top Towing Company and Consumers Energy.
