Pamela Ann Nyman, 81, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Altercare of Big Rapids.
She was born April 9, 1942, in Ionia, the only daughter of Richard and Aileen (Warnes) Coates, and graduated from Ionia High School in 1960. She earned an Associate’s degree from Ferris Institute in 1963. On October 9, 1965, Pam married LeRoy A. Nyman, and has lived in Big Rapids ever since.
For many years, Pam worked as a secretary at Ferris State University where her husband also worked. She and Roy were longtime faithful members of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, and were season ticket holders and ardent fans of FSU Hockey. Pam enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and the Lions, bowling, and traveling and maintained her FSU hockey season tickets when her health prevented her from attending. She also was an avid knitter, and liked bird watching as well. She was a very cognizant and computer savvy individual, and her spunky spirit of living life fully to the end will be missed.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and leaves behind close friend Jim Moss of Big Rapids.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 22, 2023, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Big Rapids, with Rev. Radha Kaminski officiating. Family and friends can greet one another beginning at 1 p.m. with a reception following the service. Pam will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Highland View Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Care and arrangements are entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
