Gordon J. Grice, 87 of Evart, was called to his heavenly home, on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. Mr. Grice was 87. He was born on October 14, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to Cleo Alberta Grice. He was raised in Hersey by his maternal grandparents, Earl and Helen Grice, and began working when he was 14. In 1954, he answered his call to duty by joining the United States Army and later entered the Army National Guard before his honorable discharge in 1970.
Gordon married Cleo "Lois" Grice on September 4, 1959 in Reed City and they made their home in Clarkston. Gordon and Lois were both teachers, in the public school system, but spent their lifetime educating others in one way or another. He taught 9th Grade Biology, was head of the Science Dept. for 25 years until retiring in 1989.
"Friends are like a door. The door opens and a new friend walks in. The door closes and an old friend walks out." Gordon's perspective on life and living was well rounded and made him the character he was.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 14th at 1PM at the South Evart Free Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Dunn officiating. Contributions in Gordon's memory can be made to the Sears Pantry or the South Evart FMC.
