Richard “Dick” Douglas Lynch went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2024, at his home in Evart with his family at his side. Mr. Lynch was 96. He can now walk amongst the sugar maple and ride Ferris wheels, there is no rushing him to get a job done and an endless supply of coffee and socializing he can do. God gained a genealogist, handyman, cabinet maker, roofer and sider. A man who would quit whatever he was doing to fix something for his kids and a man who always supported his grandchildren in their school events including: football, track, cross county and band.
Dick was active in and held several different positions within the churches he attended throughout the years: in Lansing, Barryton, and finally South Evart Free Methodist.
Dick was born in Lansing Michigan on August 7, 1927, to John and Hazel (Hart) Lynch. He graduated from JW Sexton High School in 1945 and later that year, in November, entered the United States Army where he was a supply clerk until his honorable discharge in April of 1947.
Dick married Ruby Coleman on August 24, 1950.They were the parents of three children. Ruby preceded him in passing on April 5, 1956. He met Thelma Church who he married on November 2, 1957, and they had three children. They made their home and raised their family in Lansing and the surrounding area before moving to Evart in 1979. Thelma preceded him in passing on September 7, 2014.
Dick retired from Fisherbody in 1980 after 30 years. In May of 2023 he had the privilege of being part of Mission XV, Mid-Michigan Honor Flight and recommends it to every veteran he talks to.
Left to treasure the memories they have are: children, John (Ann Howison) Lynch of DeWitt, Richard (Joan Hartley) Lynch of Wesley Chapel, FL, Douglas (Tammy Lewis) of Leroy, Janet Langell of Evart and Lynette (Michael Lambrix) Lynch of Barryton; 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He is now reunited with his parents, wives, and 10 siblings, Virginia (Don) Fineis, Madeline Valjean, Elaine (Forrest) Bottomley, Maxine (Frank) Shaull, Rosemary (Don) Morris, Helen (Clarence) LaClear, Phyllis (Philip) Landon, Sybill (Arnold) Ingalls, Jack (Phyllis) Lynch, and Joyce (Lee) Shaull and infant son, David Lynch.
