Morris Rogers, 72, of Sears

Morris Rogers, beloved husband to Janet, joined her in eternal rest on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at their home in Sears. Morris was 72. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 24, 1951 to Perry and Dorla (Thompson) Rogers. In 1969, Morris graduated from Lincoln High School in Warren. Soon after, at his friend's open house, he met his future wife, Janet Biernacki. They were married in Warren on August 7, 1970 and they made their home in the Sterling Heights & Warren areas, where they raised their two children.

While in high school he started working at Firestone Tire and continued for 25 years. Always interested in skilled trades, Morris became a millwright with Local 1102 and was employed by Commercial Contracting Corporation for 10 years. In 2010, Janet and Morris made their cottage, in Sears, their permanent home and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Evart.

Morris’ ability to be direct and to the point when things mattered most and determination to take care of his lawn and home, despite having a disability, spoke of his internal strength. He was kind hearted. His ability to make anyone laugh, listening & singing along with his favorite artist, Lady Gaga, watching the same video performance of “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”, and keeping up with the newest dance trends for the grandchildren, spoke volumes about his personality. He never missed watching the Detroit Tigers, hosting the annual celebration with his lifelong friends or the chance to lend a helping hand when and wherever needed.

When relaxing he could be found watching Gunsmoke or a western, golfing or hunting.

We can still hear him say his many one liners, such as, “Wherever you go, there you’ll be.” There is comfort in knowing he is in God’s care and spent his last days at home with family and socializing with close friends. Remembering Morris are: his daughter, Julie and husband Jeff Cadarian of Roseville; five grandchildren, Jordan and Justin Cadarian both of Roseville, Janelle Cadarian of North Carolina, Sara Colin of Washington Township and Raven and husband, Jacob Vasileff of Newport; two great granddaughters, Brinley and Haisley; two siblings, Ricky and his wife, Sue Blaine and Lynn and her husband, Lance Wiselogle; in-laws, Roger Buxton and Carol Rogers; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends.

Morris was preceded in death by: his beloved wife of 52 years, Janet in 2023; son, Matthew Rogers; siblings, Cheryl Buxton, Ellis Rogers, Alan Rogers, and Jackie and wife, Darlene Rogers; his mother, Dorla Atkins and father, Perry and wife, Eleanor Rogers.

Family and friends are welcome to meet at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart on Sunday, June 23rd from 2 to 8 PM and Monday, June 24th, two hours prior to the service, from 11 to 1 PM with Pastor Curtis Rider officiating. Morris will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery in Evart. Until that time share online at www.coreyfuneralhome.com
