Eleanor Joan Pullen of Reed City passed away peacefully at the Corewell Health Reed City Hospital Rehabilitation & Nursing Center on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was 93.
She was born December 3, 1930 in Tustin to Emil and Ellen (Nelson) Johnson. She attended Tustin area schools and was a graduate of Tustin High School. On January 1, 1948 she was married to David J. Pullen who passed away in 2009.
Eleanor and David operated Elmrest, on M-55 near Cadillac, (home of the bears) and fantastic homemade ice cream. Eleanor was known far and wide for making the best ice cream in Cadillac and the surrounding area. She and David owned and operated a commercial lime and fertilizer business in Hersey where she worked as the office manager and purchasing agent. She was also employed as an instructor at the Mecosta and Osceola Area Rehabilitation Center. During that time she was also employed with Evart Products.
She enjoyed a full and active life with her love of skiing, camping, travel, boating, fishing, hunting, crafts, sewing, canning and gardening. Her greatest happiness was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children: Rick (Carol) Pullen, Christine (Roger) Kamen, Kim (Victoria) Pullen; her sisters Marge Raven and Pauline Mason; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband David; parents Emil and Ellen Johnson; her sister Marian Smith and brother Carl Johnson.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Reed City with a luncheon to follow. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to either Corewell Health Hospice and Palliative Care or to Corewell Health Reed City Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
