Vivian R. Foster, age 91, of Evart, passed away at home, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. She was born on April 9, 1933, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Archie and Leota (Huffman) Wilson. On May 24, 1952, shortly after graduating from Barryton High School, Vivian married Aubrey Foster in Barryton and they raised their children in Newport, MI. Upon Aubrey's retirement in 1985, they moved back to Evart.
Vivian was a devout Christian and a member of the Ogilvie Wesleyan Church where she taught Sunday School. She was also a former den mother, a 30 year member of TOPS 1541, and active with the Commission on Aging. When Vivian was able she enjoyed: cake decorating, baking, quilting, and sewing. Over the years she donated many cakes and loaves of bread for church functions. Vivian loved to go places and enjoyed color tours in the fall and trips to Branson and Florida. She was joyful, kind, had a good sense of humor, and never said a bad word about anything.
Vivian may have raised five children, but a lot of people thought of her as “mom”. She is survived by: three daughters, June (Norman) Bruske of Evart, Deborah (Samuel) Johnson of Evart, and Donna (Robert) Hayes of Whitmore Lake; two sons, Allen (Brenda) Foster and Keith Foster all of Evart; 16 grandchildren 18 great grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren with two on the way; one sister, Darlene Brasington and husband, Ed Purtill of Mount Pleasant and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Vivian was preceded in death by: her husband, Aubrey on December 27, 2003; parents, Archie and Leota, and six siblings, Delbert, Eleanor, Norma, Beulah, Darwin “Butch”, and Archie “Fred”.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 8th at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at noon. Family and friends are welcome to meet at Corey’s and share memories on Sunday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Sylvan Township Cemetery.
