Robert Leroy Brannan, 82 of Evart, passed away on July 27, 2024 at Mission Point of Big Rapids. Robert was born on March 11, 1942 to the late Elmer and Hattie (Meeks) Brannan, in Carrollton, Illinois and raised in White Hall, IL where he graduated from White Hall High School in 1963.
On August 26, 1967 he married Drucilla Ann Hotchkiss in Waterford, and together they made their home in Oakland County where they raised their family. Robert and Drucilla were active members of the North Auburn Hills Baptist Church before moving to Evart in 2004.
Robert worked as a fabricator/welder in a machine shop for many years. He enjoyed the complete process of reading blueprints to building the final product. His talent for welding came naturally, and there weren't any metals that he was incapable of bonding. Much like the love and bond that his heart held when it came to his family. As a close-knit family, they made many lasting memories by fishing together on the Mississippi River and getting together to play guitar and sing country and gospel songs. As an old car enthusiast, he enjoyed attending car shows. Robert and Drucilla shared an incredible loving marriage of over 57 years. Together, they enjoyed traveling, attending the Dulcimer Festival and faithfully serving the Lord at the First Baptist Church in Evart.
Content and easy going, known by many as the nicest man anyone would ever want to meet, Robert will be dearly missed. Left to treasure the memories they have are: his children, Douglas E. Brannan of Evart, Christopher (Mandy) Brannan of Cheyenne, WY, and Jenifer (David) Parkinson of Davison, MI; six grandchildren, Celeste (Jamieson “Jay” Hughes) Crossley, Heidi Parkinson and Cameron, Caitlyn, Logan and Jayden Brannan; three brothers: Gene (Judy) Brannan of Greenview, Illinois, David Brannan of Columbia, Tennessee, Ronnie (Sandy) Brannan of Granite City, Illinois; two sisters: Carmen Lawson of Hillview, Illinois, and Paula Inman of Roodhouse, Illinois and many extended family members and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Drucilla and parents, Elmer and Hattie.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August. 1st, from 11 AM until the time of service at 2PM at the First Baptist Church in Evart with Pastor Ryan Bielfuss officiating. Bob will be laid to rest at Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester Hills, MI at 11 AM on Friday, August 2nd.
