Eva M. Kienitz, a lifelong resident of Reed City, passed peacefully into eternal life on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the Meceola Currie Comfort Home in Reed City. She was 98.
She was born September 16, 1925, in Reed City to William and Eva (Timm) Kienitz and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a 1944 graduate of Reed City High School. Her work as a salesclerk began at the Simon Schack Sons dry goods store. Then she moved to the Ben Franklin Store, where she was well known for many years. Upon her retirement, she volunteered at her church by sewing beautiful quilts, helping with the craft bazaars, and serving lunch to school students. She was always ready to serve her church however she could.
Eva was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews as well as many others whom she held close to her heart. She always added that special touch to her sewing, knitting, gardening, and especially her baking, making picture perfect treats that tasted as good as they looked. Family gatherings were treasured times she looked forward to and loved. She also enjoyed playing euchre and cribbage.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Norma Kienitz; nieces and nephews Deb (Rick) Bremmer, Tom (Karen) Kienitz, Karen (Randy) Dahlstrom, Brenda (Steve) Marsh, Geri (Steve) Johnson, and Mark (Mary) Kienitz; twelve great-nieces and nephews; thirteen great-great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers August Kienitz, William Kienitz, and Gerald Kienitz and sister-in-law Betty Kienitz.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reed City with Rev. Paul Tonn officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11:00 am. A committal service will take place immediately after at Woodland Cemetery.
