William E. Kushmaul Jr., of Hersey, left this earthly home on July 27, 2024, most likely from a broken heart. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, LeAnn, nine months ago, on October 25th. Yet again a good reminder to treasure what you have while you have it.
Bill was Born on February 18, 1962 in Cadillac, Michigan to the late, William E. and Freda (Girard) Kushmaul. He was raised in Evart with his seven siblings, and never lacked for something to do. Bill was a proud veteran who was on honorably discharged from the United States Army.
On October 16,1982, he married Dorothy LeAnn Hyde, in Belding, and appreciated her ability to make any place the perfect home. They traveled throughout the United States and Canada, with their three children, before coming back to Michigan due to Bill's mom's death. They were the happiest when they could travel and each trip had at least five different stories to go with it.
Bill had his quirks, could tell a good story, was a gypsy at heart, and tried his best to be a good husband and father. If Bill thought something needed to be “modified” or that it could be used in a different way, to suit his purposes, his ingenuity would take control. This often led to some successes and a whole lot of learning experiences. When he was able he enjoyed: camping, hunting, politicking & loved guns and his family.
His children can shut their eyes and still hear his voice while tinkering with a Yamaha or Suzuki and the sound of a motorcycle brings his memory back. By no means a perfect man but always a good man and friend you could count on. Bill is survived by: three children, Joshua Kushmaul of Hersey, Sheena (Jeremiah) Sowa, and Heather (Eddie) Miller all of Montana; six grandchildren, two great grandchild;; seven siblings, Barb (Medo) Fernandez of North Pole, Alaska, Deb Lockwood of Evart, Chris (Ken) Clark of Clare, Amy Kushmaul of Cadillac, Tracy (Jeff) Guerin of Chase, Brian Booher of Cadillac and Jason Kushmaul of Florida; brothers from another mother, Ron Vallad of Hersey and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Services will be held on Monday, August 5th, with visitation 11:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m., at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart with military honors and brief words of remembrance at 1 p.m. He will be laid to rest with LeAnn. Memorials in Bill’s name can be made to the Corey Funeral Home.
