Sallyann Sanford, of Hersey, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Corewell Blodgett in Grand Rapids. Mrs. Sanford was 76. Sally was born on October 21, 1947, in Flint, to Walter and Cleo (King) Sanford. She graduated from Kearsley High School and earned her degree in Physical Education from Central Michigan University. Sally taught PE at Carmen Ainsworth in Flint where she was also a substitute teacher until moving up north, with her parents, in 1976. She worked a short time at Osceola County Central Dispatch in Reed City before taking a job at Eagle Village, where she retired from.

Sally was eager to teach anyone who was eager to learn. This included everything from gymnastics to manners and life lessons. She had a big heart and love for children. Sally was strong-willed independent spunky and self-sufficient. She wasn’t afraid to tell you how it was but could do it in a caring way. Sally loved feeding the hummingbirds. She even had one that she could call to the window. Her love of the Lord was evident in her confidence to talk to others. If she could show or tell someone about the Lord - she would. She truly valued the relationships she formed, at work, church and in her everyday life, throughout the years. 

Sally is survived by: one niece Mary and her husband, Stephen Krozek of Bad Axe; dear friend, Terry Severinghaus, of Hersey; treasured friends, many students and numerous extended family.

Sally was preceded in death by: her dear sister, Lana Sheri Schwerin; her parents, three aunts, Jane, Betty and Vivian; and several friends and extended family.

Friends and family will meet from 2PM to 6PM on Thursday, August 15th at the Corey Funeral Home, Evart, MI, with funeral services beginning at 6PM. Rev. Ray Griffee will be officiating. Share online at www.coreyfuneralhome.com.
