Joan A. Johnson passed away peacefully into the eternal life on August 16, 2024, at her home in Reed City.  Her passing was unexpected though she was facing several health issues.

She was born on September 16, 1938, beginning her life with her adoptive parents, Rowland and Gladys (Hess) Peppler living her entire life in the Reed City area.  On November 11, 1955, she married Philip C. Johnson also of Reed City who passed away in 2012.   

Joan lived a quiet life, spending most of her time keeping up her home and caring for her children and family.  She worked part time at the hospital and the employment office to help support her family, she also volunteered at a local charity sorting donated goods.  She loved her dog “Rosie” and her iPad.  She enjoyed walks when she could and good conversation.

She is survived by her brother Alan Cox, sons Michael, David and Neil and daughter Laura (Seay), several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Philip, parents Rowland and Gladys Peppler, and her sister Sheila (Guerra) of Battle Creek.  

Keeping with her wishes, Joan preferred to pass without fanfare and without a viewing or a public service.  Her family will host a remembrance at her home on September 22, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm for friends and family.
